Lancaster General Health/Penn Medicine offers tuition programs to enhance the advancement of its employees and their professional careers. Tuition assistance is available for regular employees hired to work 20 hours or more a week (0.5 FTE). In order to qualify for tuition assistance, you must complete the following:
Eligible employees can have up to 100% of tuition expenses paid (excluding taxes, books, fees, etc. and less any grants or scholarships) if they attend the Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences (PA College) for undergraduate and graduate-level programs.**
LG Health will reimburse up to $4,500 per calendar year for undergraduate courses and up to $4,800 per calendar year for graduate level courses taken at other accredited colleges or universities. Note: Degree programs that are offered at PA College will not be eligible for reimbursement from any other accredited college or university.
Employees attending institutions other than the Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences are required to complete a Tuition Assistance pre-approval and application eform prior to the start of any course(s) for which they may be requesting reimbursement. Upon completion of those courses, a final grade report and billing statement must be submitted using the eform to be considered for tuition assistance.
For employees who are utilizing tuition assistance at Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences, please note that there is a tuition deferment option available to you. PA College offers a tuition deferment that will allow you to postpone or defer payment of your tuition each semester until the conclusion of that semester. To complete the tuition deferment form, please log into the My PA College Portal, and then navigate to: Student Service Center > Billing > Tuition Assistance – LG Health/Penn Medicine Employees.

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offers confidential counseling, educational tools and referral services to help you manage life’s problems – and to help you and your family members lead happier and more productive lives at home and at work. The EAP is provided through QUEST Behavioral Health, an employee assistance firm. QUEST provides support for nearly any work/life challenge.
You and your family can contact the EAP personally and privately. To schedule an appointment or to talk to a psychologist over the phone, call 1-800-364-6352 toll-free, 24 hours a day.
Quest also has a free employee resource program that offers information, advice and support on a wide range of everyday legal and financial issues. Quest wants to help you and your family member obtain assistance and information regarding the care and support of older family members. Whether you need emotional support, counseling or guidance regarding eldercare services, the program offers services such as: selecting personal care facilities, nursing home options and senior centers and adult day care.
The Lancaster General Health Convenience Pharmacy is located on the first floor of the hospital, adjacent to the Employee Service Center. The Pharmacy offers easy access to over-the-counter items and prescription fills/refills, including over-the-phone and on-line prescription refill services, home and desk-side delivery services, (717-544-5929 and www.LGHealth.org/refill.

The Lancaster General Health Employee Assistance Fund (EAF) is designed to provide financial support for employees facing a wide range of temporary circumstances that place hardships on individuals and their families.
Eligible events for application include the following:
Up to $2,000 may be awarded per application; with a maximum of $4,000 being awarded during employment tenure with Lancaster General Health. All identifying information will be removed from your Employee Assistance Fund application before it is presented to the Employee Assistance Fund Committee for approval/disapproval.

Lancaster General Health offers the “Home in the City” opportunity, a neighborhood housing program. Home in the City consists of three programs: Mortgage Insurance, Settlement Assistance and Curb Appeal. The programs apply to residential properties in an established area as indicated on the map listed in the Home in the City StarNet page. If you are a fulltime employee of Lancaster General Health, buying a home for your primary residence within the established area, or currently own and reside in a home in the established area, you may be eligible to participate in all, or some of the following Home in the City programs:
*All first-time homebuyers will be required to complete the Lancaster Housing Opportunity Partnership’s Home Buyer Course prior to settlement.
Lancaster General Health provides private mortgage insurance coverage to save you money.
Lancaster General Health offers a deferred payment option of up to $10,000 for the down payment and closing costs associated with your residential property. No interest payments are due for the Lancaster General Health loan and the loan will be forgiven at 20% per annum over five years.
Lancaster General Health provides a deferral payment option of up to $2,500 toward exterior improvements to your real estate. Lancaster General Health’s matching funds loan will be forgiven at 20% per annum over five years.

Home in the City StarNet Page
A Bright Horizons early learning center is located less than one mile from LG Hospital, called College Hill Children’s Center. The center offers child care for infants, toddlers, and preschool age children utilizing a curriculum that supports academic learning to enhance school readiness. College Hill educators are all degreed in Early Childhood Education. The center is accredited by NAEYC and recognized by PA Keystone STARS with a STAR 4 rating. Breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack are provided for the children as a part of the tuition. Infant baby food and formula are also included in the center’s tuition.
Summer camp programs are also available for children who graduated kindergarten through 12 years old.
LG Health employees are offered special discounted rates and priority placement for their children to attend College Hill.

Employee Service Center
Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health is piloting a virtual health care service, known as FirstCall, to employees and dependent 18+ currently enrolled in the LG Select health insurance plan. During the pilot (May 1 – December 31, 2018), FirstCall, which is offered by the Penn Center for Connected Care, is available to eligible employees and their adult dependents at no cost.
FirstCall is Penn Medicine’s virtual care telemedicine practice. FirstCall provides virtual visits for minor illnesses and injuries, such as sore throat, pink eye, urinary tract infections, rashes and headache. The service, managed by a nurse practitioner, can be reached 24 hours a day, seven days a week by calling 215-615-2222. To facilitate a video visit, employees are encouraged to download the MyChart app, available at MyLGHealth.org, prior to calling.
