Open Enrollment Information

  • Open Enrollment: April 22 to May 5, 2024
  • Benefits chosen during Open Enrollment will go into effect on July 1, 2024 and will end on June 30, 2025.

What’s new for July 1, 2024?

  • Premiums for medical will increase slightly (3%) with the new rates reflected on the first pay in July dated July 12, 2024.
    • Note: The premium changes only affect the LG Select Health Insurance Plan, where employees pay a bi-weekly premium for their health insurance. Employees who use the LG Consumer Health Insurance Plan will continue to not pay a premium for their health insurance.
  • Dental premiums will also be changing, allowing for alignment of these premiums across all UPHS entities (Philadelphia, Chester County, Lancaster General and Princeton). This will mean a reduction, or increase in dental premiums, dependent upon the level of coverage selected for July 1, 2024.
  • Vision premiums will not increase.
  • Prescription Drug ID Cards
    • Note: Employees will be receiving new prescription drug ID cards that reflect the recent name change from Southern Scripts to LIviniti. This new ID card will arrive prior to the end of June from Liviniti.
  • The amount an employee can contribute in pre-tax earnings to a Health Savings Account (HSA), during the 2024-2025 benefit plan year, is $4,150 for individual coverage or $8,300 for family coverage. Employees age 55 and older may make an additional “catch-up” contribution of $1,000.
  • Employees electing Voluntary Short-Term Disability, for the first time during the annual benefit enrollment, will be required to answer medical questions to be approved for coverage.
  • Group Universal Life Insurance: Employees with voluntary group universal life insurance (GUL) coverage will be provided two options to continue coverage.
    • Through an automatic transfer from GUL to term life coverage on July 1, 2024 (payroll deduction for premiums will continue; or
    • Choose to continue GUL coverage through portability, where premiums will be direct billed (and may no longer be payroll-deducted, as of July 1, 2024). The portability option does mean higher premiums than active term life coverage.

Open Enrollment…What do you need to do?

  • The April 22 to May 5 Open Enrollment is a passive enrollment for medical, dental and vision coverage, but other elections still need to happen, including:
    • Review Medical, Dental and Vision Coverage: If an employee does not log in to Workday to make changes, the current medical, dental and vision coverage will carry over for July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025.
    • Elect Flexible Spending and Health Savings Accounts: Elections for Medical Flexible Spending Account (FSA), Dependent Care Flexible Spending and Health Savings Account (HSA) do not roll over automatically. If an employee wishes to participate in these programs between July 1, 2024 and June 30, 2025, they must log into Workday and make new elections.
